HOMESTEADS steps into the realm of forgotten dreams.
In travels across the United States, I'm drawn to abandoned homes, both stately and simple. Some of these homes are seen from a back road, some from a hike in the woods or the country.
Every time I encounter one of these homes I think, "Once this was home was fresh and new, and someone moved into it with dreams of raising a family and a successful life." For whatever reason, the dream is now past and only a home mouldering into the ground remains.
I process the black and white images and add a thin veil of texture to illustrate the passage of time.
